Stiftung Luthergedenkstätten in Sachsen-Anhalt

Where the Protestant reformers carried out their ministry

The legacy of Martin Luther is important to many people around the world. The Stiftung Luthergedenkstätten in Sachsen-Anhalt (Luther Memorials Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt) is responsible for preserving and presenting this legacy through its four museums: the Luther House and Melanchthon House in Wittenberg and the Luther Birthplace Museum and Luther's Death House Museum in Eisleben. All four houses were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
The exhibitions in the Luther Birthplace Museum and in the Luther House use original artefacts to tell the story of his life and ministry. The foundation's programme includes tours, lectures and public readings as well as concerts and academic conferences. Cultural education is an essential aspect of our learning programme. The foundation has developed diverse educational programmes for the museums, and these offer children and youths – but also adults – the opportunity to engage with the Reformation in a playful atmosphere.
